Sunburn Remedies

You should try to find an all natural moisturizing lotion to apply to the skin when you get out of the bath. Natural lotions are better than most drugstore lotions because they are a lighter moisturizer and will be more easily absorbed into the skin. Try to coat your sunburned skin so it feels greasy, then wait 10 minutes and you can wipe off the lotion that hasn’t been absorbed or evaporated.

You should continue your long baths for about a week and the lotion treatment should be continued for two. Even after the pain goes away the skin is often not done healing. Try to get off the painkillers as soon as possible, to avoid a dependence or addiction. If the skin begins to peel do not pick at it, allow it to peel naturally. If you try to peel it yourself and you peel off an area that wasn’t ready to be exposed it may hurt.

Soon enough your sunburn is faded and hopefully you have learned your lesson or at least had a great day at the beach to remember! Remember to always apply your sunscreen 30 minutes before entering the sun to avoid another uncomfortable encounter!
